£4,582,124 compensation awarded in discriminaton cases in 2007
According to the Equal Opportunities Review (EOR) annual survey of discrimination cases in 2007, the total amount of compensation awarded, including interest, was £4,582,124 and the average award of compensation rose by £808 to £14,068. The average median award was £7,520.

The total amount awarded, including interest, was £4,582,124. This is almost £300,000 more than in 2006. The average award was £14,068 and the median £7,520. The overall amount awarded for injury to feelings in 2007 was £1,732,515, some £180,000 more than the previous year. The average has increased, £6,016 in 2007 compared with £5,660 in 2006, but the median has once again decreased, to £4,500.
