The Department for Business Innovation & Skills have published a discussion paper on the governance of executive remuneration in quoted companies. The paper seeks views on possible measures to improve the alignment of executive pay and long-term company performance.
The ‘Executive remuneration: discussion paper’ looks at the issues surrounding executive remuneration. It puts forward wide-ranging proposals on how to link executive pay more closely to company performance and invites feedback and further evidence that will help build a stronger understanding of the issues. The proposed measures relate to: improved transparency, the role of shareholders, the role of the remuneration committee and the structure of remuneration. Comments are invited by 25 November 2011.
