Lord Saatchi, Chairman of the Centre for Policy Studies, has announced the appointment of Lord Bamford to the Board of the Centre for Policy Studies. Contributor Lord Saatchi.
The move represents the latest strengthening of the 16-strong CPS Board, following the recent appointments of Lord Hill of Oareford, former European Commissioner; Douglas Flint, former Group Chairman of HSBC; and Ben Elliot, co-founder of Quintessentially.
Lord Bamford is one of Britain’s leading industrialists, who has served as Chairman of JCB since 1975. An independent report by Oxford Economics concluded in 2013 that JCB supports 24,000 jobs in the UK, contributes £545 million to the Exchequer and generates £1.4 billion of GDP.
The Centre for Policy Studies is one of Britain’s most respected think tanks. It recently launched its flagship “New Generation” initiative, to showcase the talent, energy and ideas of MPs from the 2015 and 2017 parliamentary intakes, and other fresh voices.
Lord Saatchi said: “I am delighted that Anthony Bamford has agreed to join the Board of the CPS. There are few people in Britain who have a more impressive track record in creating jobs and opportunity – or who have done more to promote the CPS’s founding values of enterprise and aspiration.”
Lord Bamford added: “I’ve admired the work of the Centre for Policy Studies over the past four decades and I hope in some small way that by joining the Board I can contribute to the CPS’s future success in encouraging enterprise in our country.”
