The EHRC have published a 46-page handbook which provides a brief overview of the Equality Act 2010 and to act as a reference guide for advisers in England and Wales. The handbook is not designed to be a comprehensive summary of equality law. Instead, advisers are encouraged to use this as a starting point to direct further reading. The handbook covers: the definition of the nine protected characteristics; an overview of different forms of conduct prohibited under the Act; and, how the Act applies in different contexts. It covers various sectors in addition to the workplace, e.g. education, and also covers the Public Sector Equality Duty.
