The Government has opened a consultation on its overall approach to parental leave and pay seeking views on three main proposals to provide additional support for employed parents: (a) a range of high-level options for reforming parental leave and pay; (b) a requirement for employers to make public their parental leave policies, to help ensure that job applicants can make informed choices; and (c) a new entitlement to Neonatal Leave and Pay for parents of babies who require neonatal care following birth an entitlement to be absent from work to care for the baby, so that, as far as possible, parents have additional time at home with their child to compensate for the time their child was in hospital after birth.
