VW HRD becomes Director of HR Operations at Skanska

theHRDIRECTOR editorial panellist, Ian Iceton, has left his post of HR Director at Volkswagen Group UK after 17 years to become Director, HR operations at construction firm Skanska.

Originally starting his career as an accountant, Ian shaped the agenda
for HR at Volkswagen for nearly two decades and has been applauded
particularly for the benefits packages he put in place for employees. Ian took up the newly-created position at Skanska on May 11 and will be working with Harvey Francis, Executive Vice President of Skanska UK, playing a leading part in the ongoing development of the HR Function.

Over the last year HR at Skanska has undergone significant changes to its operating model. This has included the creation of a central shared service delivery function, hrDirect; the bringing in-house of the payroll function; and the transition to a Business Partnering model with the HR Business Partners. These partners will be reporting to Ian but will maintain responsibility and accountability to the Operating Unit MDs within Skanska UK.

Ian will remain with theHRDIRECTOR as an editorial panellist in this exciting new stage of his career. He is also a Fellow of both the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and Chartered Institute of Accountants. Married with three children, Ian is a keen sportsman, with a particular interest in triathlons.
