Share ownership the new engager?

Conservative MP Graham Brady, a former Treasury Select Committee member who now chairs the influential 1922 Committee; Labour MP Adrian Bailey who is Chairman of the Business Innovation & Skills Select Committee; and Liberal Democrat MP Stephen Williams, Chair of the Liberal Democrats Parliamentary Treasury Committee will all speak at the ifs ProShare conference.

Phil Hall, a spokesman for ifs ProShare said; “David Cameron recently confirmed that the Conservatives would like see wider share ownership in the UK, Stephen Williams has led a much publicised campaign to return bank shares to individuals and Adrian Bailey has a proud history of promoting the cause of employee ownership and mutuality. However, whilst all parties support the concept of employee share ownership there are some variances when you look at what this means in practice and in terms of defining policy for the future.

We are therefore delighted to have three political heavyweights taking part in what promises to be a lively, informative and engaging debate on the politics of employee share ownership.” The panel discussion will take place during the ifs ProShare Annual Conference at the British Museum, London on 12 October 2011. The Annual Conference is ordinarily attended by approximately 300 HR professionals, employment lawyers, finance directors, company secretaries and employee share plan staff from across the UK, Europe and beyond. As well as providing an unrivalled networking opportunity, the conference gives delegates the opportunity to hear from experts from across the fields of industry, law, politics, tax and academia as well as a keynote address from a captain of industry.
