With retention statistically going down, in terms of length of service, and with new Gens expected to hop around considerably more than their predecessors, one company, recruitment firm Now Careers, believes that providing career opportunities in integral to keeping talent for longer.
The average length of service for a Now Careers employee is seven years, while most would argue that employee retention is an art rather than a science, the ethos at Now Careers is simple, it is not just a job, it is a career choice. Gary Redman, Managing Director at Now Careers said: “In order to keep your employees with your company, there needs to be opportunities, and this is the key word. The opportunity for growth, progression, skills and supporting the individual throughout their career will ensure that key employees are not looking elsewhere.
“Many of our employees have developed with Now Careers, and as the business has grown so have they, our current directors all began as recruitment consultants.” Tenured employees are a valuable asset for a company as they will have greater knowledge of the company and understand the brand values. Employee retention has been a widely discussed issue, with companies reporting high employee turnover. A study from the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) found that 78 percent of companies struggled to retain employees. Now Careers has over twenty years’ experience within the recruitment industry placing individuals in Accounting and Finance, Construction and Professional Services positions.
