Portsmouth Job Applications Highest in the South of England

Job growth in Portsmouth has significantly increased in the last month. Applications increased by 12.6% suggesting the city is an attractive prospect for job-hunters.

Growth nationwide for applications between June and July 2015 went up 6.7% placing the city 88% ahead of the UK’s average. It also continues to show application growth in the long term with a year-on-year (2014 v 2015) increase in applicants of 10.08%.

The city saw the highest growth of job applications month-on-month in the South of England above London, Southampton and Brighton. Reinforcing the suggestion it is a key target for job-seekers.

4.  Southampton (3.70%)

5.  London (3.9%)

Working with a number of local organisations CV-Library also reports a correlating increase in the number of businesses and recruiters advertising new roles in the city, with a huge year-on-year increase in job growth of 36.34%. Over the past few months alone job growth has risen by 19.5% (June v May) and 18.5% (July v June). This marks it as an area of rapid expansion for business, which is having a clear impact on the number of applicants choosing the city as the destination for their new role.
