Understanding the role of career development for staff retention and business growth, Morgan Tucker, a leading national engineering consultancy, has invested in three new business training programmes.
Entitled ‘the Pulse of Morgan Tucker’, the programme sees three intensive development programmes; Commercial Champions, Sales Force Champions and a Management Development programme, launched across its five offices, throughout the UK.
The premise of the programme is to build engagement throughout the company, helping people to feel part of its ongoing success and as a result, client services improve across the board too.
Matthew Tucker, MD at Morgan Tucker said: “As the construction and engineering industry continue to battle with the skills crisis, our strategy is to look a little closer to home and encourage the employees we already have to stay with us. We understand the importance of investing in our employees and truly believe that in doing so, they deliver greater results for the business.”
The Commercial Champions programme is designed to help safeguard commerciality throughout the business. With this in mind, individuals are trained to challenge the status quo in terms of how the business currently operates, and propose new ways of working that will help to increase performance and profitability.
For the Sales Force Champions, the core remit is to define the cultural attitudes and practices that work well for the business and identify new practices to help make it work better for customers.
The final element of the programme is Management Development, under the premise that there is always room for progress and learning no matter what level you reach. The programme hinges on the belief that managers should lead by example, while improving their own skills and ultimately the performance of each office.
Staff have offered positive feedback on the programmes including Alex Lambton, Assistant Engineer: “By taking part in these events it has allowed us to answer the questions that others within the business are asking. It has also provided assurance that the company on a whole is open to suggestions and is prepared to change based on the information the employees provide. More importantly it has allowed us to start asking the right questions for us to succeed in our careers and as a Company”.
