How to unlock and harness emotional intelligence

  • Practice active listening. In every interaction, prioritise listening over talking. Active listening builds empathy and shows employees that you genuinely are about their perspectives. This creates space for meaningful connections, trust and deeper understanding.
  • Take emotional pauses. Before reacting to stressful situations, take a moment to breathe and reflect on how your response will impact others. Reconnect with your values and strengths to ensure your reaction aligns with the kind of leader you want to be.
