Ex-Militarycareers.com was co-founded by an ex-British solider and his twin brother who has ten years experience in recruitment and employment services.

In 2010 they set up a LinkedIn group page to see if other people were struggling to find employment who have served their country, to date the group page have nearly 8,500 group members with over 4,500 followers. On a daily basis both candidates and employers speak with one another, as clients look to tap into the phenomenal untapped resource of team playing, adaptable and loyal candidates. Through this immediate success we created the job board Ex-MilitaryCareers.com which we launched in July, since its launch we have over 100 active companies registered and a huge database of candidates. In October we recorded over 20,000 unique visitors; over 80 percent of the traffic is within the UK the other 20 percent coming from USA, Canada and UAE.

Military JobsEx-military Careers has a wide range of highly skilled candidates largely within 5 keys verticals; Energy&Utilities Security, Engineering, Transport&Logistics and Business Services we have found that the majority of the candidates coming to our site find value in not only the live vacancies advertised but also help and advise with training courses, CV tips and de-mystification of what their skills can relate to on Civvy Street. Ex-Military Careers advertise vacancies from FTSE 100 to smaller SME businesses all seeking the transferable skills from the Military or from those who have a Military background with commercial experience. Currently using the site to advertise their vacancies are Ryanair, VirginActive, Thames Water, G4S and Buckingham Palace to name a few. One of Ex-Military Careers first clients who have advertised vacancies from the inception of the business is Mitie Group. Below is a testimonial from Mitie Group.

“Mitie is a FTSE250 strategic outsourcing provider, employing over 75,000 people in the UK alone. It operates in a range of sectors in the facilities management industry including engineering, building and construction, security, catering, front of house, landscaping, pest control, waste, property management and cleaning. With the national skills shortage in real danger of affecting our ability to recruit highly skilled people in the future, particularly into technical roles, we consider people leaving the Forces as ideal candidates. Mitie employs many people who have previously worked in the Forces as they have been trained to a very high standard, they show great aptitude for working together in a team, project managing, problem solving and leading people, to name but a few skills. Many have gone on to enjoy very successful careers at Mitie, progressing to management and Director level. We don’t just employ them in the same or similar role they had in the Forces, but we provide training and support to help re-skill them into new roles and sectors within our business.

The ex-Forces people we employ also participate in Mitie’s mentoring scheme, and act as role models to our apprentices and others at an earlier stage in their careers, who can really benefit from their skills and experience. We are delighted to be partnering with Ex-Military Careers to provide access to our vacancies and help those leaving the Forces transition to a successful career at Mitie.” Ex-Military Careers is a social enterprise, profits raised from the job board are given to the Ex-Military Foundation which provided training courses, CV tips and advice, crisis loans, rehabilitation and an ongoing mentor system for hard to reach candidates and those who leave the military without another position, the foundation offer a workshop for candidates wanting to better underst Financial Services, FMCG, Engineering , Human Resources and Recruitment to name a few.
