Know your rights at work

The third edition of the TUC’s guide to employment rights at work has just been published. The text has been completely revised and updated for 2008 and highlights include fully rewritten chapters on maternity rights, flexible working, holiday entitlement, health and safety and disciplinary procedures.

The book, Your Rights at Work, deals with all major employment rights, devoting a full chapter to each. Chapters cover: starting a job, parental leave and maternity rights, discrimination and bullying, e-mail privacy, dismissal and redundancy, pay and holiday rights, and enforcing rights.

The book is written by employment experts at the TUC and is aimed at offering  solutions to the problems and issues that everyone can face at work. It emphasises that using the law is always a last resort, but if there is a need, practical advice is provided on the steps that need to be taken.

The book contains revised sections on maternity rights, flexible working, holiday entitlement, health and safety and disciplinary procedures. All the original material, which included contracts of employment, working time, parental leave, dismissal, health and safety, bullying, wages and discrimination have been updated.

According to the Observer “Every worker has something to gain from dipping into this simply written guide.”  Employers best get a copy then!

At £9.99, the book can be ordered from:
