Tribunal judgments on the Internet delayed

Tribunal judgments on the Internet delayed

The publication of employment tribunal judgments on the Internet has been delayed until Caseflow, a computerised case management system, has been rolled out across the regional tribunal offices, according to Bridget Prentice, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry of Justice.

While EAT judgments are already available on the Internet, there is no current facility to access employment tribunal judgments. It is intended to make tribunal judgments available ‘electronically’, but this will not happen until Caseflow, a computerised case management system, has been developed and rolled out across the regional tribunal offices.

The announcement came in a written answer by Bridget Prentice MP, the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry of Justice to a parliamentary question.  Caseflow is being piloted in Autumn 2008 and national rollout depends on the results of the pilot. The plan is that Caseflow will make it easier and more cost effective for tribunal judgments to be uploaded to the ET website. However, it now seems likely that tribunal judgments will be not be available on the Internet until mid-2009 at the earliest.
