The Tribunals Service has published quarterly statistics for 1 October to 31 December 2011 showing that compared to the same quarter in 2010 there has been a 40% increase in claims to Employment Tribunals.
The Tribunals Service has published quarterly statistics for 1 October to 31 December 2011 in relation to all types of tribunals (including employment tribunals). The figures show that between October and December 2011, Employment Tribunals received 56,000 cases, a 40% increase in overall claims to Employment Tribunals, compared to the same quarter of the previous year. The number of receipts of single claims remained static. However, the number of receipts of multiple claims rose by 65% and was affected by the high number of re-submitted airline cases received in October to December 2011. In October to December 2011, there were 27,800 disposals made by Employment Tribunals, an 8% increase on the same quarter of the previous year. The number of single disposed cases fell by 2%.
