Acas has welcomed the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills’ (BIS) request for it to write a new Code of Practice on Settlement Agreements and has confirmed that the Code will give clear and reliable guidance on how to handle these agreements in a fair way and that it will be taken into account in employment tribunal decisions. Work to begin drafting the new Code on Settlement Agreements will start shortly and Acas will be consulting with stakeholders in readiness for the necessary employment law changes which Acas state are due to come into effect from 2014.
