Reforms to simplify and strengthen companies’ non-financial reports have been confirmed in The Companies Act 2006 (Strategic Report and Directors’ Report) Regulations 2013 which have been laid before Parliament. From October 1 this year, part of the reforms, which require the preparation by companies of a strategic report, a company will have to provide information on: (i) the breakdown of the number of men and women on their board, in senior management positions and in the company as a whole; and (ii) information on human rights issues, to include information on the position, performance and future direction of a business.
This provides summary information and comment on the subject areas covered. Where employment tribunal and appellate court cases are reported, the information does not set out all of the facts, the legal arguments presented and the judgments made in every aspect of the case. Employment law is subject to constant change either by statute or by interpretation by the courts.
