A website has been launched providing information to complement the Fit for Work service which will be provided under the terms of a Government funded contract awarded to Health Management Limited and which is aimed at providing occupational health assessments and assisting employees who have been absent for four weeks or more to return to work, which was one of the key recommendations made by Dame Carol Black's major review of sickness absence in 2011.
Although there is no indication of when the full service will be available, the website states that a phased roll-out will take place “over a period of months”. The ‘Advice Hub’, which can be accessed now, provides a library of advice which includes entering a question into the 'Find an Answer' facility, or, a using a guided assistance process via a section on health conditions, live chat or a FAQ facility.
Separate advice is provided via links for GPs, employers and employees.
