Tribunal compensation limits will increase from 6 April 2016 under the Employment Rights (Increase of Limits) Order 2016. The increases made by the Order reflect the increase in the retail prices index of 0.8% from September 2014 to September 2015. The maximum compensatory award for unfair dismissal increases from £78,335 to £78,962. The maximum amount of a week’s pay, used to calculate statutory redundancy pay and various other awards subject to the cap, including the basic and additional awards for unfair dismissal, increases from £475 to £479 per week. The increases apply where the appropriate date giving rise to the entitlement to compensation or other payments occurred on or after 6th April 2016. Article 4 sets out the appropriate date for each of the awards and the Schedule to the Order sets out the new limits.
