Acas have published new guidance to help employers create supportive workplaces for women during pregnancy and maternity leave. Acas state they received more than 14,000 calls last year about pregnancy and maternity issues, an increase of almost 10% on the previous year. The guidance covers five topics: 1. An overview of pregnancy and maternity discrimination; 2. Supporting employees through pregnancy and maternity; 3. Adaptations at work to help pregnant employees and new mothers; 4. Managing absence from work because of pregnancy and maternity; and 5. Making a claim for pregnancy and maternity discrimination.
