The Government has accepted the Low Pay Commission’s recommendations for hourly rate increases to the National Living Wage (NLW) and the National Minimum Wage (NMW) in April 2019. The NLW for workers aged 25 and over will increase from £7.83 to £8.21. NMW increases are as follows: from £7.38 to £7.70 for 21-24 year olds, from £5.90 to £6.15 for 18-20 year olds, from £4.20 to £4.35 for 16-17 year olds and from £3.70 to £3.90 for apprentices aged under 19 or in the first year of their apprenticeship. The accommodation offset rate for making accommodation available to a worker will also increase from the current £7.00 per day to £7.55 per day.
