The Mayor of London has published data on the pay gap affecting BAME employees within the Greater London Authority Group, making it among the first employers in the country to do so. The data reveals a significant earnings difference between white people employed by the GLA Group and those from a BAME background. The pay gap is particularly stark at the Metropolitan Police – 16.7%, the Greater London Authority itself – 16% and the two development corporations – 37.5% and 30%. Alongside this data, the Mayor has revealed how he plans to tackle the ethnic pay gap across the organisations under his control.
