The Government has published ‘Gender equality at every stage: a roadmap for change’, setting out the vision and actions to tackle the persistent gendered inequalities women and men face in their lives. The key employment related measures include three consultations: (1) to help ensure workplace sexual harassment legislation is fit for purpose; (2) on increasing the transparency of organisations’ parental leave and pay policies and on improving the availability of flexible working in job adverts; (3) providing dedicated employment rights for carers. Other measures include setting up a taskforce to tackle the workplace culture that allows pregnancy and maternity discrimination to persist. and reviewing the enforcement of equal pay legislation, including considering the circumstances where mandatory equal pay audits could be appropriate and proportionate.
